Gascoigne's agent says ex-star urgently needs helpLONDON (AP) — Paul Gascoigne's agent says the former England midfielder requires urgent medical help. The 1990 World Cup star, nicknamed "Gazza," has been plagued by alcohol and mental-health problems since quitting the game in 2005 Despite receiving treatment in recent years, agent Terry Baker says the 45-year-old Gascoigne has been drinking again, adding on the BBC: "His life is always in danger because he is an alcoholic." Gascoigne was pictured in Britain looking unwell at a public event Thursday. Baker says Gascoigne "immediately needs to get some help ... maybe no one can save him — I don't know." Gascoigne scored 10 goals in 57 matches for England. He played for Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers and Middlesbrough before his career was cut short by injuries and off-field troubles. |
