Here is the latest Mississippi sports news from The Associated Press
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — It's early March and Mississippi's basketball team is on the NCAA tournament bubble. Coach Andy Kennedy's seven-year tenure with the Rebels has been filled with 20-win seasons that include just enough losses to keep the program in a constant state of postseason uncertainty. Ole Miss is squarely on the bubble as it prepares for a road game against LSU today in Baton Rouge.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Former NFL defensive tackle La'Roi Glover has been elected to the Saints Hall of Fame for the Class of 2013. Glover, who averaged 10 sacks during five seasons in New Orleans from 1997 to 2001, is the lone player being inducted this year.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Hornets have signed former Miami Heat guard Terrel Harris to a 10-day contract. Harris appeared in seven regular season games with Miami this season, averaging 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 4.1 minutes before he was waived in early January.
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies held off a late run for a 103-92 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers yesterday. Marc Gasol scored 22 points. Memphis has won 11 of 12 and is 12-4 since trading star forward Rudy Gay to Toronto on Jan. 30.
