Grizzlies, Pacers look to exploit home court edges...Pens can clinch tonight
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies can take a 2-1 series lead over series favorite Oklahoma City as they play Game 3 this evening (5 p.m. Eastern) in an NBA Western Conference semifinal series. The Grizzlies' Mike Conley was one assist short of a triple-double in Game 2 and will try and take advantage of a Thunder team missing its point guard Russell Westbrook, who's out of the series with a knee injury.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP)— The Indiana Pacers are home tonight all even with the New York Knicks as they prepared to play Game 3 of that Eastern Conference semifinal (8 p.m. Eastern). The Knicks are coming off a split of two games in New York, but they won Game 2 105-79, scoring more than 100 points for the first time in a playoff game since 1999.
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Sergio Garcia takes a one-shot lead over Tiger Woods into today's third round of The Players Championship. Lee Westwood is in a four-way tie two shots from the lead and Masters champion Adam Scott is lurking just four shots off the lead.
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — If the Pittsburgh Penguins can post a road victory tonight on Long Island, they'll advance to the second round of the NHL Eastern Conference playoffs to take on seventh-seeded Ottawa. The Penguins take a 3-2 lead into the Nassau Coliseum to play the New York Islanders, who were blanked 4-0 Thursday night.
DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) — There's NASCAR racing under the lights tonight at one of the old-time sites of stock car racing, Darlington Raceway. Kurt Busch has the pole with last year's Darlington victor Jimmie Johnson starting alongside him in the Southern 500.
