Light day schedule

UNDATED (AP) — It's a light schedule of day games in Major League Baseball this afternoon. In Atlanta, two of the top National League teams are squaring off as the Braves entertain the Reds after Cincinnati doubled up Atlanta 4-2 last night.

The Tampa Bay Rays, who had their eight-game winning streak stopped by Houston rookie Jarred Cosart in a 2-1 loss last night, are home against the Astros in the second game of their weekend series.

The Chicago White Sox are in Philadelphia for a day-night doubleheader after last night's rainout in the City of Brotherly Love. The Minnesota Twins are in New York to play the Yankees.

In a marquee game this evening, two front-running American League teams continue their weekend series as the Tigers play host to the Rangers. Detroit scored five runs in the first inning in its 7-2 win over the Rangers last night. The man to keep an eye on is Tigers' starter Max Scherzer, who enters the game 13-0. Despite getting a no-decision in his last outing against Cleveland, Scherzer can still equal the 14-0 start of the 1986 season by Roger Clemens. He is 4-0 with a 3.35 earned run average lifetime against the Rangers.

Lance Lynn of the Cardinals is going for his 12th win of the season tonight. The Cards are facing the Cubs in Chicago after losing there, 3-2, yesterday. Lynn starts the night with a mark of 11-3 with a 3.67 ERA. He'll be facing Matt Garza, who is rumored to be on his way out of Chicago via a trade before the trading deadline later this month. Garza is 5-1 with a 3.22 ERA.
