US loses to Serbia in volleyball round robin

SAPPORO, Japan (AP) — The U.S. women's national volleyball team lost to Serbia 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-23 Thursday in the second day of the FIVB World Grand Prix.

The U.S., which has won the event the last three years, fell to 0-2 in the six-team round robin tournament. Serbia improved to 1-1.

Kelly Murphy led the Americans with a match-high 23 points on 21 kills and two aces.

Team USA faces China on Friday.
