Notre Dame's Daniels becoming a difference-maker
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame receiver DaVaris Daniels has shown he can be a threat. Coach Brian Kelly wants him to be a constant threat.
Kelly got on Daniels at halftime against Purdue after he made several mistakes without having much of an impact. The 6-2, 203-pound receiver responded with touchdowns on successive offensive plays to lead the Fighting Irish to a 31-24 victory. His 82-yard TD catch, featuring a stiff-arm on Purdue cornerback Ricardo Allen, was the ninth-longest catch in school history.
Daniels says he knows as the Irish prepare to face Michigan State (3-0) the biggest challenge for him is to consistently play at that level Kelly is looking for. Kelly wants to see the kind of effort he saw in the second half against Purdue for a full game.
