Indians' Bourn resting with sprained wrist

CLEVELAND (AP) — Indians center fielder Michael Bourn is not in the lineup for the regular-season home finale because of a sprained right wrist.

Bourn jammed his wrist sliding in the fifth inning of Tuesday night's 5-4 win over the Chicago White Sox. Bourn said the injury is not serious and he pushed manager Terry Francona to let him play Wednesday as the Indians, clinging to the second AL wild-card spot with five games left, completed their home schedule.

However, Francona wants to have Bourn spend a day getting treatment so when the leadoff hitter returns he'll be able to play at full speed.

Francona said Bourn will likely wear a protective brace when he runs the bases, and there's a chance he could be used as a pinch-runner against the White Sox.
