CBS 8 First Alert Weather Network Chief Meteorologist Chris Bailey joined the CBS 8 family in 1993.  Prior to working here, Chris worked in Columbus and Hattiesburg in Mississippi as well as Monroe, Louisiana. Chris can be seen weeknights at 5:00, 6:00, 10:00 and on The CW News at 9:00.

Chris is a graduate of both The University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University.  He is a member and seal holder of the National Weather Association.  In his years at CBS 8, Chris has led our weather team through such major weather events as F-4 tornadoes in Montgomery, numerous severe thunderstorms,  Hurricane Opal in 1995, and most recently Hurricanes Dennis and Katrina in 2005.

In his spare time, Chris enjoys gardening and photography.  He is a big fan of the CBS show, "Survivor" and also enjoys watching college football.  His favorite shows of days gone by are:  "The Andy Griffith Show", "M*A*S*H", "Star Trek", and "Laugh In".  Chris' favorite movie of all time is "To Kill a Mockingbird" with Gregory Peck.

Each week during the school year, Chris seeks out and awards deserving teachers with the CBS 8 Golden Apple award.  Chris also is the primary emcee of the annual Muscular Dystrophy Telethon each Labor Day weekend on CBS 8.  Chris also donates his time  throughout the year to various organizations from the American Cancer Society to Habitat for Humanity.  Chris is the single parent of Bogart and Tango, his two four-legged children (dogs).
