Native Alabamian Glenn Halbrooks has 25 years of experience in television news. He anchors CBS 8 News weeknights at 6:00 and 10:00 as well as The CW News at 9:00 and serves as managing editor. He also brings you his "Helping Schools" reports each month. Glenn joined CBS 8 in March 2003.
Glenn was born in Huntsville and grew up there and in Chattanooga, Tennessee. His family's roots go back nearly 200 years to rural Morgan County, Alabama.
Glenn is a graduate of The McCallie School in Chattanooga and Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.
In 1990, Glenn moved to Montgomery and anchored the noon news at WSFA for nearly two years. He went on to anchor positions in Birmingham and Chattanooga. He then spent several years behind the camera in management and producing positions.
Glenn is a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and the Montgomery Rotary Club, where he serves on the Board of Directors. He's involved with several community groups including the Hugh O'Brian Youth leadership organization, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He's also a member of the 2008-09 Advisory Council for the Alabama State University Dept. of Communications.
Glenn and his wife are members of Montgomery's Young Meadows Presbyterian Church where they have taught Sunday School. They spend their free time chasing around their beagle.
