Samford University graduate Jenna Deery is thrilled to be back in Alabama. She joined the CBS 8 News team in April 2008 as a general assignment reporter.
Before coming to CBS 8, Jenna returned to her hometown of Orlando, FL to work under some of the industry's best as an associate producer for the number #1 station, WFTV Channel 9.
In May 2007, She graduated from Samford University in Birmingham with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communications and a minor in Spanish. During college, She spent a summer studying in Spain and also studied journalism in London. When she wasn't working on school work, Jenna spent the rest of her time as an intern at WBRC Fox 6 in Birmingham. While she was there, she had the privilege of interviewing personalities like Gene Simmons, Hillary Clinton and Joe Namath. She was also recognized by the Associated Press with nominations for Best College Feature Reporter and Best News Reporter.
Her favorite thing about reporting is getting to meet new people everyday. "You really get to know a community from the inside out when you listen to the personal stories of the one's who live there," Jenna says.
When she's not working, Jenna is a reality show junkie with some of her favorites including Big Brother and Survivor. "I love date night with my DVR." She also loves hanging out with friends, spending time at church, relaxing by the water and cheering on the Florida Gators during football season.
