Stu McCann joined the The 8 Team in May of 2008. Besides making the move from the end of the "State Alphabet" to the front, Stu is thrilled to get closer to the coast. He grew up minutes from the beach in California and after 10 years away from the ocean, he's excited to once again be within driving distance of the water.
Stu followed in his parents' footsteps and attended the University of Nevada-Reno, graduating with a degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast. He stayed in Northern Nevada and worked for KRNV-TV before the 'pull' of the Wild West roped him to Casper, Wyoming, and KCWY-TV. Stu began behind the scenes as photographer but worked his way into the sports department and eventually into the Sports Director's chair. During his time in the Cowboy State, Stu won a pair of "Best Sportscast" awards and "Best Sports Story" as voted on by the Associated Press.
When he's not covering sports in the community and around Alabama, Stu enjoys listening to music, playing his bass guitar and chasing his dog around the disc golf fields at Auburn University-Montgomery.
