New ASU Presidential Search Committee Member Speaks Out

Alabama State Univeristy has a new student member for the school’s presidential search committee.
Â
She was elected by the student body earlier this week, and she appeared with the rest of the board at Wednesday’s committee meeting.Â
Â
Ayana Jordan says it’s been a whirl wind week, but the senior couldn’t be happier to represent her university on the committee.
Â
Jordan is now one of two students to sit on the committee.Â
Â
She says she’s honored to be a part of the process and she hopes that she can help the university get out from under the shadow of the recent audit, which found evidence of misspending and fraud.
Â
She wants everyone to remember that ASU’s academics are as strong as ever, and she wants a leader who can be excited about that.Â
Â
“They’re definitely going to have to be passionate about what we’re doing here at alabama state. We need someone who’s going to come in and no biases, who really wants the truth and will be honestly transparent. And that means working with the governor’s office, working with every component, every entity,” said Jordan.
Â
The next step in the process is to interview the candidates, which will take place at the start of December.Â
