Exelis Action Corps Volunteers Rebuild Korean War Veteran’s Home

It’s that time of year where we give thanks for what we have. One Montgomery organization is thanking a Korean War veteran in a very special way.
83-year-old veteran Lindsey Kirksey has lived his Montgomery home since he was a child. The home is now in need of many repairs.
Â
Today, about 20 volunteers from Excellus Action Core came together to work on building him a new one. The house sits across from a church his father had a hand in building.Â
Â
Kirksey says he’s been touched by the community’s support.Â
Â
This is the beginning of another era,” said Kirksey. “I feel good to see all these people volunteer to serve and help the needy. It’s a blessing.”
Â
The project has been in the works for over a week and volunteers hope to finish it in about a month.
