Gas Station Clerk Murdered After Robbery in Pike County

The Pike County Sheriff says a gas station clerk is dead after a robbery. Alabama News Network was first on the scene in the Pike County town of Spring Hill.

According to Sheriff Russell Thomas, it happened at the Hill Mart Gas Station on Highway 167 around 8:00 Saturday night.

Investigators say a customer came to the store to pump gas and found merchandise scattered on the ground. They say the customer then called 911. Deputies then found the body of the clerk, face down. Investigators say the clerk, a 51-year-old man, had been shot. His name has not been released.

Sheriff’s deputies say the shooter is still on the loose, but say they do not have a description of the shooter at this time.

They say a deputy had patrolled the area just before 8:00, so they believe the robbery and murder happened just after that. They have not released what was taken from the store.

If you have any information, you’re asked to contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Office at (334) 566-4347. A cash reward is being offered in this case.
