Artists’ Exhibit and Mural Dedication Reception
The National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African-American Culture is hosting a combined Artists‘ Exhibit Opening and Mural Unveiling Reception on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the National Center, located at 1345 Carter. Hill Rd. The artists‘ exhibit will feature “Black Women During the Reconstruction Period”, a juried exhibition from members of the National Alliance of Artists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (NAAHBCU) and a special mural unveiling and dedication of “We Who Believe in Freedom Cannot Rest”, Mr. Vincent Morgan is the mural designer. The entire Journey to Freedom: A Mural in Eight Parts is a visual interpretation of African Americans‘ struggle for recognition as human beings and first –class citizens will also be on display. Exhibit dates are: January 26 – May 31, 2014, with the exclusion of holidays.
