Tough Winter Break For Troy University Students

 It’s been a winter break full of tragedy for Troy University students. Four lives are cut short, their ages ranging from freshman to a winter graduate. Heart break is felt all across the campus.Â

Starting with the day after winter graduation, a student from China gets into a car crash in Florida and later dies. Then a murder near the Troy campus has Troy Football Player Dimitri Miles facing a murder charge. Three days after Christmas and her 21st birthday, Troy University Junior Kimberle Johnson dies in a shooting at a Montgomery bar.Â

Fast forward three days, 18-year-old Troy Student Kristin Fuller is shot and killed at a New Year’s party near Luverne. In that case, 19-year-old Taylor Driggers. Also a Troy student is behind bars, charged with manslaughter.Â

Bethany Wilson, a junior said, Â “I think we sometimes usually do take our life for granted we’ll do something and think oh it wont happen to me but I think this will be a message to open the eyes of everyone a little and let them know that you are not promised your next breath.”

The most recent tragedy was the death of football player Jadarius Garner–who was found on Mississippi roadway. What led up to his death is still under investigation.Â
