From the West Alabama Newsroom–  Officials in Dallas County are making preparations to deal with another blast of winter weather.

EMA Director Rhonda Abbott says preparations are underway to deal with dangerous conditions the weather may bring.

Abbott says road crews and first responders are on standby — and area schools have been shut down for the next couple of days.

“We’re making preparations now with our road departments and our public works and with Red Cross and just having everything ready to go in the event that we do have an issue of large snowfall, power outages or whatever here,” said Abbott. “We’re trying to take every precaution at this point.”

Abbott says road conditions could become hazardous over the next couple of days and motorists should stay off the roadways if at all possible.
