Heart disease causes 1 in 3 women’s deaths each year. And the Go Red For Women Campaign spent this Saturday in Montgomery dashing myths, to hopefully save lives.

CBS 8 and ABC Montgomery were sponsors for the first annual Red Dress Dash. More than 100 people dawned their red attire, dashing in Montgomery.

It’s a fun way to draw attention to heart disease and raise awareness for the number one killer of women. The event kicks off American Heart Month.

Susan Mitchell, a survivor of heart disease said, “Pay attention to your body, and if you don’t feel good go to the doctor. And keep fighting until they listen to you because I went through a big fight with this.”

CBS 8 and ABC Montgomery are teaming up with American Heart Association throughout heart month, this is just the first of many events to raise awareness for heart disease.
