Lee High School Student Who Died In Pelham Accident Identified

A Robert E. Lee High School student is dead and another student injured when the two boys were hit by a truck as they walked on a highway near Birmingham last night.

Montgomery Public School officials say there was an Information Technology Academy field trip that was coming from Huntsville when the accident happened.

Shelby County Coroner, Diana Steele, says 16-year-old Alex Bridgman was killed.

It happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday night  near Highway 119 in Shelby County.

Pelham police say Bridgeman died on the scene and a second boy was injured when they were hit by a pickup truck as they tried to cross a road. The name of the second student has not been released.

Montgomery Public School officials say the students were on a school bus and had stopped for dinner. They also say there were several chaperones with them.

There will be counselors at Robert E. Lee High School all day.
