Not Enough Mothers Follow Up with their Obstetrician

Less than half of new mothers go back to the obstetrician for a follow-up visit six weeks after giving birth.

Johns Hopkins researchers also found that women who had complications during pregnancy were more likely to see a doctor post-delivery.

However, overall, visit rates were low.

Medical groups widely recommend a six-week post-partum visit to assess how the mother is healing, as well to follow up on possible future health risks.
