Alabama Capitol Clock Stuck in Time
As you know, Montgomery holds a lot of history.
But there is one thing on the capitol building that is literally having trouble keeping up with the times.
The capitol clock is stuck at 5:30.
We’re told by the Alabama Historical Commission that the clock dates back to 1851.
It was a gift from the City of Montgomery.
And it’s hard to find the right parts to fix the more than 160 year old clock.
“We’re doing our best to keep the fabric as original as possible. But there’s a lot of new technology that has come on the scene in clock repair, and so possibly explore those avenues and utilize new technology where we can and preservation,” said Commission Director Christy Carl.
Carl says she hopes to have the clock restored one day.
Meanwhile, the Alabama Historical Commission continues its work in restoring and enhancing the historical character of the building.
