Winter Storm Leads To Flight Cancellations

More than 3,000 flights have been cancelled mostly to and from the South.  Winter storms aren’t only affecting North and Central Alabama, flights are being cancelled for hundreds of travelers at Montgomery Regional Airport.

With Atlanta and Charlotte in the thick of the storm, nearly 60% of outgoing flights to those cities have been cancelled between Tuesday and Wednesday, with only a few exceptions still heading to Atlanta. Delta airlines has already begun making cancellations for Thursday and more could be on the way. Airport officials say they are keeping passengers updated on the airport’s Facebook page, “I Fly Montgomery.”

Chip Gentry, the Vice President of Air Service Development for Montgomery Regional Airport, says, “We ask that people be patient with this and understanding because you’re better off being held back here in your home opposed to being stuck somewhere sleeping in an airport.”

Gentry also says that all westbound flights to Dallas are running as scheduled without any cancellations.
