Alexander City Man Under Arrest for Allegedly Murdering Neighbor
An Alexander City man is under arrest after police say he murdered his neighbor.
Sixty-year-old James Ewing is charged with murdering his neighbor and friend, 75-year-old Donald Jenkins.
According to Alex City Police, it happened around 7:30 Tuesday night at Ewing’s home on Circle Drive. Police say they found Ewing and Jenkins in the basement, after receiving a call about an apparent suicide.
They say Jenkins died from several gunshot wounds, which were not consistent with a suicide. Police say Ewing also had injuries they believe might have been self-inflicted. According to police, the two men may have had an argument. They say alcohol was a factor in the shooting.
