UPDATE: Union Springs Teen’s Cause of Death Determined

 

Union Springs Police say 13-year-old Ka’Shaad Hurts’ death’s been ruled a suicide. Police say they found him hung in the woods near South Highlands Middle School last Friday. 

 

His family and friends spent almost 24 hours searching for him after he didn’t return home from the Union Springs Recreation Center. Police are not releasing a motive and are continuing their investigation. 

 

Bullock County Superintendent Keith Stewart says state and local resources have been available to help students cope. They are planning a community forum on suicide and bullying prevention.
