Montgomery Wins Best Historic City in America Title
It’s official… Montgomery wins the title of the best historic city in America!
The city took the top spot in U-S-A Today’s 10-Best Readers’ Choice Awards contest. Montgomery officials say the city was nominated because of it’s ties to both the civil war and the civil rights movement. Those ties include Confederate President Jefferson Davis taking his oath on the capital steps…Years later, Rosa Parks provided a spark for the civil rights movement by refusing to sit in the back of a Montgomery bus.Â
