Body of TV News Pioneer Norman Lumpkin Laid to Rest
A pioneer of Alabama journalism is laid to rest. Hundreds gathered to honor Norman Lumpkin at a funeral service at Metropolitan United Methodist Church. He worked at WSFA TV from 1969 until the 1990’s where he was the first African American television reporter in the city. He also became news director and anchor at ABC Montgomery, which was then called WHOA.
