Local Reaction to Hobby Lobby Supreme Court Ruling

It’s a controversial issue that won’t soon go away…
Hobby Lobby is now exempt from having to pay for contraceptives like “the morning after pill.”

Hobby Lobby customers are applauding the ruling.

“They are a family owned company. That’s their business. That’s their religious beliefs. I support it whole heartedly. If you want that sort of thing, you can find it somewhere else,” said Odessia Ayers.

To them, it’s part of the company’s own rights.

“It’s a first amendment issue. It’s absolutely a religious issue because God’s Word is clear that murder is a sin,” said Hannah Ford.

But not everyone is seeing it the same way.
We asked our facebook fans what they think.

Kay Cue says, “Religious beliefs of a company should not be imposed on it’s workers. Everyone has a right to choose what is right for them. Contraceptives are a part of healthcare & should be covered by every company that offers healthcare coverage.”

The ACLU is also against the ruling that the group believes will impact other rulings as well.

“It’s also a larger loss for rights of employees and labor rights. And that’s not just this case. We’ve seen a couple of other decisions from the Supreme Court in the last few weeks,” said Brady Henderson of the Oklahoma ACLU.
