Ala Man Seeks New Judge in Murder Case

A Cullman County man charged with murder in the killing of a convicted sex offender is asking the judge in the case to step aside.
An attorney for the man filed a motion Tuesday asking Cullman County District Judge Kim J. Chaney to give the case to another judge.
A court document says Chaney disclosed a possible conflict of interest during a hearing.
The Cullman County father is charged with murder in the shooting death of 59-year-old Raymond Earl Brooks last month. Brooks pleaded guilty to sexually abusing the man’s daughter 13 years ago.
The man also is charged with shooting at the boyfriend of a stepdaughter shortly before the killing.
The Associated Press isn’t using the suspect’s name to avoid identifying the daughter in the abuse case.
