Driver in High-Speed Chase Facing Attempted Murder Charge

Prattville, Ala- The driver who led Alabama State Troopers on a high speed chase on Interstate 65 Thursday afternoon has now been charged.
The driver, Nelson Bell, 19, of West Palm Beach, Fla. faces charges of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, shooting into an occupied vehicle, burglary, two counts of receiving stolen property and several traffic offenses. 
Additional charges may follow as the Alabama Bureau of Investigation is working with other law enforcement agencies in Alabama and Florida to determine the extent of Bell’s criminal activity. 
State Troopers say the chase began after 2:00 p.m. Thursday after a trooper tried to stop Bell for speeding.
The chase ended after spike strips were deployed near the 195 mile marker in Chilton County.
Bell is being held in the Elmore County jail.
