Son of Missing Deatsville Woman Charged with Murder
Millbrook police say the son of a woman reported missing has been arrested in connection with her death.
Chief P.K. Johnson says Sedrick Clayton was arrested and charged with murder in the death of 49-year-old Anita Washington.
Washington was reported missing by family members Wednesday. She had not been heard from since the day before.
Johnson says Clayton was the last person to see Washington Tuesday afternoon. He says evidence collected at Washington’s home and vehicle pointed to Clayton as the main suspect.
Johnson says the relationship between Washington and Clayton had become strained in the week before she was reported missing.
Clayton is being held in the Elmore County Jail without bond.
Police are still searching for Washington’s body. Johnson says if you come across what you believe are human remains, you should leave the scene and call Millbrook police immediately.
