Montgomery Boy Gives Up Birthday Presents to Give to Animals in Need

It’s a tough time of the year for many animal shelters in our area, many of them taking in more animals than they can place in homes. Some people are trying to change that, though, by giving back.
Drue Midkiff celebrated his birthday by gathering pet supplies to donate to the Montgomery Humane Society. His family and friends celebrated his 10th birthday at a field used by the a model plane club. Local pet stores and the president of the Modelers Club also donated to the cause.
Drue said he was inspired to do something after his own dog passed away. He said he wanted to make sure other animals could have happy lives. His drive raised a $100 cash donation, as well as two vehicles full of pet supplies. His family will deliver those items to the shelter on Monday.
