Police Apprehend Man After Tuscaloosa Killing

Authorities say they’ve apprehended a suspect in the killing of a man at a Tuscaloosa business.
The Tuscaloosa News reports (http://bit.ly/1BUIU9y) that 38-year-old Eric Omar Petty is accused of killing 41-year-old Marcellus Brown at the Easy Money payday loan business on McFarland Boulevard around 6 p.m. Saturday.
Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit commander Sgt. Dale Phillips said Brown was shot in the chest.
Phillips didn’t disclose a possible motive, but said the killing appears to have been a personal issue between the men that didn’t involve the business.
Phillips said members of a U.S. Marshals task force and the homicide unit arrested Petty around 5:40 a.m. Sunday. He was being held on a murder charge at the Tuscaloosa County Jail. It wasn’t known Monday whether he has an attorney.
