Ala. Woman Suspected in $200,000 Employee Theft

A Warrior woman is charged with stealing more than $200,000 from her employer by forging checks.

Police say 52-year-old Rebecca Higginbotham was arrested Tuesday. She faces seven counts of second-degree forgery, six counts of first-degree theft and one count of second-degree theft.

Police say the woman stole and forged at least 135 checks from her employer and deposited them into her personal accounts. AL.com reports that she worked in the accounts department for Birmingham Internal Medicine Associates.

Bond was set at $300,000. Online jail records do not list an attorney for Higginbotham.
