Attorney General’s Race Heating Up Between Strange and Hubbard

Attorney General Luther Strange is running again but not without opposition.
Despite what may be a low turnout in the polls because of lack of interest this year, political analyst Steve Flowers tells us the Attorney General’s race between Luther Strange and State Representative Joe Hubbard may be closer than you think.

“The polling indicates Hubbard is within striking distance of Strange. Strange for some reason is not as popular as the other four incumbent office holders,” said Flowers.

Joe Hubbard says he has been campaigning across the state for the past 6 months and ready to tackle some major issues.

“Out of state heroin rings coming in setting up shop, you’ve got meth labs popping up all over the state, those are issues I think need to be addressed. The person to address them is the Attorney General and the thing is our Attorney General has been absent the past 4 years when it comes to cracking down on violent crime,” said Hubbard.

Luther Strange says he is running on his experience in office.

“Based on experience, taking on the cases, saving tax payers billions of dollars in doing so, going after corruption, violent crime, protecting victims, consumer fraud and on down the line, we’ve probably been the most productive Attorney General office in recent Alabama history.”

Flowers says while Hubbard is gaining ground, there are some obstacles that he will have to get over in such a conservative state.

“The advantage Strange has even though he is weak in the polling, is that he is the Republican nominee. That’s worth about 10 points. Hubbard has to overcome being a Democrat.”

In the end, it’s anyone’s race and one that Flowers says will be decided on voter turnout at the polls.

The general election is November 4, 2014.
