Local Juniors and Seniors Turnout for College and Career Night

It was a night of introductions and questions as students and parents learned a little more about the possibilities for life after high school.
“Trying to find a college that I can stand for her to be away from me, and we are looking for something economical that’s going to fit into our budget and something she’ll enjoy,” said parent Martha Chinakwe.
And it looks like she has found something she likes.
“I’m really interested in going to Troy. I feel like their program will really help me. I feel they have a great science department, which is what I want to major in,” said junior Joi Chinakwe.
Over 2500 participants came out to the Renaissance Hotel with different interests and backgrounds as well.
“I play football. And I won the quarterback club player of the week so I gotta go to that tomorrow. I’ve been looking around at some colleges around town like Troy and Alabama just seeing if I can get any scholarships,” Senior Tyler Sheehan.
This is the 30th anniversary for College and Career Night hosted by the Junior League of Montgomery.
“It is great to offer juniors and seniors in high school a central location where they can come and really ask questions all these college recruiters,” said Junior League President, Ashley White.
And they say it keeps growing.
“Last year we had a little over 60 something colleges attend. This year we’ve got right at 75 colleges that are here and that doesn’t count the careers that are here as well with the military,” said event chair, Sheena Davidson.
