State Troopers Gearing Up for Annual Footwash Festival

From the West Alabama Newsroom–   The 126th Annual Footwash Festival in West Alabama is a little more than a week away — and Alabama State Troopers gearing up to make sure festival-goers stay safe.

The four day non-stop festival draws thousands of people each year making it one of the area’s biggest events.

State troopers stepped in and started patrolling the grounds and monitoring traffic after it gained a reputation as an event where anything goes.

“And tried to make the event just a little bit safer for all the patrons there,” said Capt. Agatha Windsor.

The increased visibility of law enforcement has helped to tone down the event over the past few years.

“I think with the state troopers and everything out there, I think everything go real well,” said Uniontown resident Booker T. Gipson.  “So everybody come on down to the Footwash and enjoy they self.”
