Ultrasounds Effective in Diagnosing Kidney Stones

Doctors often use C.T scans to diagnose kidney stones.

But a study in the “New England Journal of Medicine” finds that less expensive ultrasounds are just as accurate as C.T.’s without the radiation exposure.

Researchers recommend doctors use ultrasounds first for diagnosing kidney stones and only follow up with C.T.’s if necessary.
