House Engulfed In Flames For Fire Training

Multiple fire crews battle a blaze in Goshen.

Don’t worry, it’s just a drill.

Volunteer crews from Bullock and Pike counties spent Saturday training on an old home donated to the departments.

For some of the newer volunteers, this is their first house fire.

Crews worked together on different training techniques before engulfing the house in flames.

Meeksville Volunteer Fire Chief Louis Davis said, “It’s really beneficial because it’s basically on-the-job training. We don’t get to do this very often. So every little bit of training helps us out, out the community helps out the whole county.”

Volunteer crews have to work with a lot less. Meeksville says if they are lucky their annual budget will be about $13,000. They have to stretch that a long way to cover fuel, insurance and bills.
