Business Symposium Looks to Boost Small Business in Lowndes Co.

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  A business symposium in Hayneville looks to provide a boost to small businesses throughout Lowndes County.

Small business owners learned about lending programs that are available to them at the state and federal levels.

First Citizens Bank in Hayneville hosted the symposium. Charlie Sankey is a loan officer at the bank.

“A lot of small businesses are having trouble getting loans,” he said. “So, we wanted to give them every option available to make sure we can continue to grow small businesses in this county,” he said.

Sankey said the symposium was an effort to provide small business owners with the information and resources they need to succeed in business.

Hayneville business owner Kelvin Lawrence owns and operates two Subway restaurants in Lowndes County.

“This symposium is very important because I’m looking to expand my business,” he said. “I’m looking for the different resources that are out there that can help me expand to create more jobs for this particular area.”

Lending programs make getting a business loan easier by reducing some of the risk to banks.
