Selma City Leaders Borrow Four Million Dollars for Infrastructure Upgrade

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  The city of Selma is taking out a four million dollar loan to pay for some infrastructure upgrades in one of the oldest city’s in the state.

The project will replace old clay piping with new P-V-C piping in several areas around the city in need of immediate repairs.

Selma homeowner Leon Varner lives in one of those areas. He says he’s been forced to deal with sewage problems for years and its about time the city is finally doing something about it.

“They should have done it long before now,” said Varner. “I been out here 30 years and the sewage been bad ever since I been out here.”

City officials say the project should get underway around the first of the year.
