Macon County Employees Getting Pay Raise

Macon County employees are getting a pay raise.
The County Commission approved a 5 percent pay hike for all county employees. County officials tell us that includes sheriff’s deputies. Last month, we spoke to several of them who told us they were not making a living wage.
In addition to the pay increase, employees’ health care costs are coming down.
County officials say they couldn’t afford to raise salaries before because of VictoryLand Casino’s closing and the loss of tax revenue.
