Woman Claiming To Be Wright’s Sister Speaks Out

Montgomery, AL — A woman claiming to be the sister of the man police believe shot a Montgomery Police officer is speaking out to Alabama News Network.
The woman called our newsroom while authorities were still searching for Matthew Wright. Police say Wright shot officer Robert Hubbard while Hubbard was trying to apprehend Wright during a theft attempt.
The woman tells us Wright suffers from mental illness and says her family has been trying to reach him for three weeks.
Wright was taken into custody by officials in Louisiana Sunday evening.
The woman says she lives in Texas, but spoke to us by phone about her brother. She urged him to turn himself in and seek help.
