Federal Judge Accused of Hitting Wife Appears in Court

A lawyer for an Alabama federal judge says his client is complying with the conditions of a pretrial diversion program following his arrest on a misdemeanor battery charge.

Attorney Jeff Brickman says Mark Fuller appeared in Fulton County Magistrate Court Tuesday to provide proof of compliance to the county solicitor’s office.

Fuller was arrested Aug. 10 after his wife called police from an Atlanta hotel and told police that Fuller had hit her.

The pretrial diversion program a judge allowed Fuller to enter last month includes domestic violence intervention and an alcohol and substance abuse assessment.

A committee of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is investigating a complaint of judicial misconduct against the judge.

Alabama’s two senators and governor have called for Fuller to step down.
