Teens arrested after allegedly stealing four wheelers

Four wheelers in Pike and Coffee Counties were disappearing since August. But, local law enforcement say they’ve finally caught who did it.Â
Â
Three Pike County teenagers were arrested after allegedly stealing multiple four wheelers totaling more than $20,000.Â
Â
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office and Troy police department say their collaboration led to connecting the dots–recovering these four wheelers.
Â
Four were still running, one completely dissembled.
Â
Investigators say three teenagers confessed to the crimes, saying they stole two from Coffee County back in August then the others in Pike County in early October.Â
Â
It’s a case closed that the sheriff’s fears wouldn’t have stopped if otherwise.Â
Â
Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas said, “It’s nice and it’s always good to be able to return the stolen property to the rightful owners and to be able to make an arrest and there were a lot of hours put into this case.”
Â
Troy Police Chief Jimmy Ennis said, “Very good example of officers being observant and also of this sheriff’s department and police department cooperating and working together.”
Â
Sheriff Thomas said, “It’s nice to be able to stop it so that we don’t have others.”
Â
All three have been charged with theft of property. But more charges are expected.Â
Â
Investigators say one of the four wheelers was stolen from the Goshen High School’s Ag academy.Â
Â
The sheriff says the teenagers were even thinking about stealing one of his investigator’s four wheelers.Â
