Pike Co. Classroom in the Forest

This video is no longer available.

Fifth graders all across Pike County are taking their classroom to the forest.

This is the second year of the event at Renfroe Farm.

Students  learned all about pond management, prescribed burning, tree identification and much more.

The extension office, forestry commission, district conservationist- just to name a few, put on different stations for the students. Touching the fish and going through the soil trailer were crowd favorites.

Ella Claire, Ella Cate, Pike Liberal Arts Fifth Graders said, “the soil part, when we went in this trailer with fake snakes.”

All of this is to educator fifth graders about the county’s natural resources. Today the county schools were out on the farm, tomorrow’s the Troy City Schools’ turn.
