Push To Turn in Absentee Votes

Even with all the back and forth over the air waves politicians on both sides can agree on one thing-and that’s the importance of getting out an voting.
But even for those who cant get to the polls, a trio in Pike County is working to make sure absentee ballots get cast.
Councilwoman Dejerilyn King Henderson is going door to door to those who physically can’t make it to a polling place, getting them an application for an absentee ballot or signing off on complete ballots.
The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Thursday and election officials say you must follow all instructions on how to return a completed ballot.
Completed absentee ballots must be post marked by Monday at 5 p.m. or hand delivered by the voter.
You can not drop off someone elses’ ballot.
Jamie Scarbrough, Circuit Clerk, Absentee Election Manager said, “We want to preserve the integrity of the elections that’s the whole point of all of this. The voter id. We don’t want the elderly to be taken advantage of and unfortunately that’s what we see a lot across the state.”
