Kidnapped child from MS found safe in Butler County
Police say a 6-year-old child who was kidnapped from Pascagoula, MS, has been found safe and his non-custodial father is behind bars in Butler County, Alabama.
Pascagoula Police Captain Shannon Massey says the child and his grandmother were at a restaurant Wednesday around 6 p.m. when Maurice Rentz Johnson took the child while the grandmother’s back was turned.
Massey says Johnson was stopped by authorities around 8:30 p.m. near exit 114 on Interstate 65 in Butler County.
Massey said the child is safe.
He says Johnson will remain in the custody of Alabama authorities until extradition is arranged.
