New grocery store coming to South Blvd

This video is no longer available.

It was once a Food World offering south Montgomery residents a convenient place to shop.
But it closed down, and since that time, nothing has taken its place until now.

“It’s good news, good news for the people in that area,” said Mayor Todd Strange.

The good news… Cash Saver Food Outlet.
There is already one on Atlanta Highway.
This one will be one of 21 in the  family-owned grocery business spread out through Alabama and Mississippi.

South Boulevard neighbors are welcoming it with open arms.

“I would love it cause I don’t have to fight all the traffic. I can cut through the neighborhood and be right there,” said Samuel Steele.

“Oh, that makes me feel great. I don’t have to go so far now. Instead of getting in my car, I can just walk up there, great exercise too,” said Pamela Cade.

Cash Saver owner Todd Vowell says it will create 25 to 35 construction jobs, and 75 jobs inside the store.

Mayor Strange says it will be a win-win for the store as well as others in the area.

“Ton of businesses, residents, Alfa is in there, Baptist Hospital is there. So a lot of employees in that particular area. Lots of them are going in that direction, so from that standpoint it is going to be convenient,” said Strange.

The store should be open by the end of the year.
