Some big statewide offices are up for grabs in next week’s elections, including governor, but a recent CBS News poll shows the race isn’t a close one.

The Cctober poll shows Republican Governor Robert Bentley with 63 percent of the vote and Democrat Parker Griffith with 25, giving Bentley a 38-point lead. Bentley leads in nearly every category, except among black voters. Eight percent polled said they would vote for Bentley, but he says he’s confident he has statewide support.

“My support is strong from Tennessee line all the way down to Mobile and Baldwin county and all across the state,” Bentley said.

“If I were not a Democrat, and I were not running with the headwind of the Democratic party, it wouldn’t even be a contest, I’d be so far ahead in this race,” Griffith said.

Elections are Tuesday. We’ll have live coverage of the results throughout the day on CBS 8 and ABC Montgomery.
