ASU’s First Annual 5K Freedom Walk

Alabama State University honored Montgomery’s veterans with its first 5K Freedom Walk/Run. The route for the 5K began at Montgomery’s Heritage Plaze and wound through Old Cloverdale. The run coincides with ASU’s Military Appreciation Day, which recognizes local veterans and their families. The university’s radio station WVAS sponsored the event.

Station Manger Candy Capel says, “We’re going to build on this foundation. This is the inaugural event so next year it’ll be even bigger and better.”
